This morning we boarded the "Canyon Odyssey" for a three hour boat ride on Lake Powell heading for Rainbow Bridge.
We entered Cathedral Cove and were amazed at how close we were able to get to the canyon walls. The captain of the boat took us into very narrow parts of the canyon. It was amazing!
Rainbow Bridge
is located at the base of Navajo Mountain. The area is sacred to the Native Americans living in the area. In May 1910 President Taft created the Rainbow Bridge National Monument.
While at Rainbow Bridge, we listened to Ranger Chuck as he told a story from Native American lore about the formation of Rainbow Bridge.
We began to gather for the first of our group pictures.
On our return trip to Wahweap Marina, we carefully went into Cascade Canyon.
More views on our way back to Wahweap.
