North Rim of Grand Canyon

Wednesday's travels took us to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon for its spectacular views! Only 10% of the visitors to the Grand Canyon visit the North Rim which is higher than the South Rim.

On arrival to the North Rim, our great leaders had a morning snack for us on arrival to our first vista.

We visited a number of view sites and had a few short hikes to the view points. This was followed by lunch at the Grand Canyon Lodge. The food was great and the view from the dining room was spectacular.

After Lunch another short hike was followed by a visit to the gift shop, then the group split with one group attending a ranger talk on the California Condors and three vehicles (Hummer, Jeep, and Land Rover) taking off for the 18 mile (one way) trip on unpaved roads to Point Sublime.
All returned safely to the campground to report on the day to Steve and Andrea who had to remain behind because of a sick refrigerator.Posted by Picasa
